Fellow wine connoisseurs, this one’s for you! National Wine Day is coming up on May 25, and if you’re anything like us, you’re already planning out ways to celebrate this favorite alcoholic beverage. Whether you plan a trip to your favorite winery or come dine with us at 1920 Tavern, there are many ways to celebrate National Wine Day this year. Here are three:
Hold a Virtual Wine Tasting
If you’re wanting to celebrate from the comfort of your home, try hosting a virtual wine tasting with friends and family. Video chats have become a permanent part of life over the past year, so gather around your computer or smart phones with a few wines to try. You can even coordinate so that everyone is trying the same wines at the same time, or everyone can choose their preferences for a truly tailored experience. However you choose to set up your wine tasting party, it’s the perfect way to celebrate an otherwise unremarkable Tuesday and bring a little cheer to your week.
Get Crafty with a DIY
When you’re a fan of wine, you can accumulate a lot of empty bottles and popped corks. If you have a stash of wine bottles you’ve been saving to recycle or for a future craft night, National Wine Day is the perfect day to break out the supplies and bust into your stash. Keep things simple by painting or decorating a bottle to create a personalized flower vase, or get more involved by cutting the bottles to make handmade wine bottle candles. Corks are easy to repurpose into fridge magnets with a glue gun and some craft store magnets, or look cool arranged into a decorative wreath. If you have a little more time, cork bath mats are also a nifty craft night idea that is also very functional. There are pretty much endless ways to repurpose wine bottles and corks, so don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
